About Bacano

Bacano is a family-owned coffee roaster built around a simple idea: fresh Colombian coffee should be easy to enjoy every day.

Our story began in 2010 with two busy city espresso bars. Working behind the machine every day taught us what coffee needed to be in practice: fresh, consistent, smooth and dependable under pressure.

Just as importantly, our customers told us what coffee needed to be for them. They wanted a coffee that tasted good every day, worked beautifully with milk, held its flavour as an espresso or long black, and felt easy to come back to.

That shaped everything.

Instead of starting as roasters guessing what people might want, we started as espresso bars listening to what people actually ordered, enjoyed and returned for. In 2014, we began roasting for ourselves so we could control the product more closely and build the blend our customers were already asking for.

That blend became La Hacienda Blend: our signature 100% Colombian espresso coffee. It is smooth, full-bodied and dependable, with notes of dark chocolate, toasted almond, caramel sweetness and a clean citrus peel finish.

It was the coffee people lined up for in our own stores. From there, Bacano grew into supplying other cafés and espresso bars, then offices and regular coffee drinkers who wanted the same standard at home.

Today, e-commerce is the best way for us to run Bacano with focus. It lets us keep the range simple, roast with care and send fresh coffee directly to the people who enjoy it.

Our range is intentionally focused. Rather than offering endless blends and confusing choices, we concentrate on one dependable coffee and roast it properly. That means better consistency, fresher batches and a coffee that is easy to come back to.

Bacano brings together Colombian origin, espresso tradition and Australian coffee culture. The result is a bold but balanced coffee made for the way many of us actually drink coffee: espresso, flat white, latte, cappuccino or long black.
